    Looking Glass Creek
    Adam Johnson, DBO Staff

    Description:

Looking Glass Creek is a fun, easy to access stream not far inside the entrance of Pisgah National Forest. It is a typical wild trout stream with a smattering of pocket water and big pools. The river is almost all roadside along Hwy 276 and you can use any of the many paved pull offs between the road and the river. As far as the fish size and species, the river is full of 6 to 10 inch wild rainbows that can be very spooky so be stealthy.

  • Regulations:

Looking Glass Creek is designated Wild Trout water indicated by the blue and gold diamond shaped signs. Refer to North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission's Regulations Digest for details.

    What to Use:

I would recommend using any rod from 6'6" to 8' in length and 2 to 4 weight. Summer brings mostly terrestrial fishing and so I would recommend using hoppers with inch worm, beetle, or ant droppers.
